In European folklore, a cottage in the woods carries the meaning of warmth, home, and a family’s embrace. We present a modern fairy tale house in the lush Canadian forest.

The rocky, mountainous site created a unique opportunity — the house steps down towards the water. The bottom of the building is entirely finished in natural wood, while the slender columns support a vastly cantilevered roof over a completely transparent top floor.

This glass storey appears to be floating above the lush greenery, reflecting the nearby Miskwabi lake. The 360 degree views of the surrounding forest fully immerse its inhabitants in nature.
